David Brawn

I completed my PhD in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Michigan in 1993, based on research done in Indonesia, on the island of Sulawesi. After that I taught anthropology at UM and other local schools for several years until I began to do applied research in the field of medical anthropology (focusing primarily on HIV). However, I found that I missed working with students and so when the opportunity came to move back to UM as an academic advisor (helping students who are preparing for careers in healthcare) in 2006, I jumped at it. In 2009 I was made an Associate Director in the Newnan LSA Academic Advising Center, where I continue to work. The highlight of my day is still talking with those wonderful students who called me back to campus in 2006. Personally, I have been married since 1982. My wife Linda and I have two sons and two grandsons.
